YWAM LAPLAND

YWAM LAPLAND

We are a warm community at the gateway of the Arctic North, the land of Northern Lights, midnight sun and endless wilderness. Rovaniemi is the capital of Finnish Lapland, a university city and a point of contact for international visitors and a traditional, laid back Northern way of life. When the Lord calls, the world is open to us whether it’s the northern wilderness or mega cities across continents. We reach people all over the world from Northern Russia to Brazil and Asia. We train and send teams to love on people from different backgrounds with the love of God.

Our vision is to build God’s Kingdom in all spheres of society together with the local churches. We strongly believe that believers should have influence as examples in all professions. God has given us all unique gifts that we are to use to advance His Kingdom. We want to equip young people to go into all the world and share the love of Christ with their full potential. Our desire is to see young people from all nations finding their gifts and calling to serve the Lord.

We are a part of the YWAM global family of ministries.

However, we will be crossing cultural, geographical and the state borders of our neighbouring countries already during the lecture phase. After the lecture phase there will be a 8 to 12 weeks outreach phase that is also a part of the DTS. Outreach locations are usually further abroad but exact locations will differ in each DTS.

Lecture phase dates: Begins 30th August 2019

Outreach dates: Ends 1st March 2020

How to apply

You can start the application process by filling in and sending us an application form. There are brief questions concerning your life and Christian faith so that we can get to know you in the best possible way. As a part of the application, we would like to receive recommendations from 3 people who know you well (one of them should be your pastor or spiritual leader). Please ask them to fill in the recommendation forms. After you have submitted your application, you will receive an email with a link to a recommendation form.

Please be honest in your answers to these questions and do your best to give a truthful picture of yourself and your life. As we go through your application, your motivation for the DTS is a key factor. Please spend enough time prayerfully filling in the application and trust in God’s guidance. Give your references time, space and an opportunity to be completely honest. All applications will be processed confidentially.

After receiving your application and all 3 recommendations, we will go through them prayerfully and then be in contact with you.

YWAM Lapland

Life after DTS?

After completing DTS in any YWAM Location, you can consider staying on staff. Is God calling you to Lapland? There is a committed YWAM Team in Rovaniemi. We organise DTS’s, camps, outreaches and cooperate with local churches. You might carry a ministry or a YWAM School that our city needs! Please contact us and fill out a Staff Application Form.

If have not done a DTS with YWAM but would still like to volunteer for some time, you are welcome! Please email us!

YWAM Lapland began in Rovaniemi in 1992. First, it was mainly King’s Kids Ministry. There were young YWAMer parents who wanted to disciple their children and bring the Gospel to their city. There were many kids and adults involved in the King’s Kids Ministry. They were serving both the local community and reaching out all the way to Northern Russia and Romania with skit-dramas, music and dance. YWAM Lapland has been organising various conferences and seminars, like Prayer Conferences, Arctic Explosion, Impact Tour and Highway Conferences. Many people were reached and touched by these events.

In 2006 we organised our first Cross Borders Discipleship Training School (DTS). We wanted to educate young people with the Word of God and send them to serve Him in all spheres of society and some even overseas as missionaries. As part of training, we took teams on outreaches to the Americas, Romania, Iceland and Russia. Nowadays, we have sent teams all over the world in places like Africa and Asia. We prayerfully seek the Lord’s guidance and He sends us to places where we are needed the most.

Since 2011 have a YWAM base at Suokorte street. Besides an annual DTS, we run a Bible Core Course, which is a 3-month Inductive Bible Study Method course.

We cooperate with local churches in organising seminars, for example. We want to challenge, influence and provide for local people to be salt and light in their communities.
